Take Over Zion!
TAKE OVER ZION!
What would you do if you were in charge?
The management at Zion want to hand over the reins of the Centre to young people!
As a centre for young people, we think the best way to make sure we’re offering what young people want is to give you the power to run it yourselves. This could be seen as a wild experiment, but we’re not behaving like some mad scientists, because first we’ll help you gain skills and give you training to run a successful and busy arts centre.
Here’s the plan:
We will select a group of young people aged 11-30 who are interested in
TAKING OVER ZION.
We will work with you to find out what areas of work you might be interested in (management, finance, creative, programming, reception, operations etc) and then you will be paired up with a staff or Board member who will mentor you for a year.
You will also receive training, shadowing, projects to manage and anything else needed to give you the skills and confidence to take over their job. There’s an opportunity to gain Silver and Gold Arts Awards too.
At Easter 2011, the big switch happens.
You and your mentor will swap roles, and you’ll be in charge.
Just think, you could be the Chief Executive, Chair or Creative Manager!
At the end of the experiment we hope that the group of Young Leaders will carry on influencing everything that happens at Zion, with elected members also having the opportunity to join Zion’s Board of Directors on a permanent basis.
