Newall Green High Creative + Media Placements

This February Zion Arts have been lucky to host two students on work placement from Newall Green High School. Austin + Melissa are both Year 10 pupils on the Creative & Media Diploma. Here is what they had to say about thier experience...

"Over the past few days while on our work experience at Zion we have enjoyed all of our time here, and all the people at Zion are so welcoming. We have had the chance to do many things during the week, such as a T-shirt printing workshop, a film editing session, working with primary schools,  posting leaflets around Hulme, had a tour of Zion and the Royal Exchange, and also watched a play, and have enjoyed every session, and would do it again." Melissa+Austin

 "I had an amazing time at Zion, and enjoyed doing all the workshops we had taken part in. My best part was going on the mesh (technical theatre training), and doing the workshop with a group of primary schools with Stuart. I didn't really dislike anything because it was all fun and interesting. I think we will be back for our other work experience, it was nothing like i expected Zion to be, and i had an amazing time. Special thanks to Vicky and Fiona and everyone else who helped out with the workshops, and making my time here happy."  - Melissa :]

 "The main bit i enjoyed during my work experience was when i went on the mesh with Stevie b I really enjoyed all workshops but that was the favourite one i think vicky is fantastic and i have joined the youth forum so i will be back in at the zion and hopefully be back for work experience next year" Austin :]

The placement was organised by the Ideas Foundation. Deborah said... 

 "The work placement experience which Zion provided for our Ideas Foundation scholars from Wythenshawe was absolutlely outstanding. The programme you developed was rich, varied and incredibly inspiring to our young people who had never even been in an Arts Centre before. I am not surprised that the students now want to become a permanent fixture within the Zion family taking up your offers to join many of the groups and committees you provide on an on going basis."
